North Babylon (WALK) - Suffolk police have a suspect in custody involved in a four-vehicle hit-and-run crash involving three motorcyclists, one of whom was critcally injured in North Babylon Thursday.
Kenneth Jones Jr., 19 (photo), of Washington Avenue, Deer Park is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday on charges including leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and criminal possession of stolen property.
Detectives say the mayhem began just after 12:30 PM Thursday when one motorcycle rear-ended a small SUV on Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon. Jacqueline Morrison of Babylon lost control of the SUV, which fliipped over.
Morrison, 54, of Babylon, and her three-year-old grandaughter were treated at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, and released, according t police.
Two other motorcycles traveling just behind the SUV weren't able to stop in time, and also crashed. Jones allegedly fled the scene on foot, leaving his motorcycle behind.
The driver of the first motorcycle has been identified as Travis Lovett of Brentwood. Lovett, 20, is hospitalized with a head injury and is reported in critical condition. Stanley Severe, 22, of Deer Park, the other motorcycle rider, was not hurt.
