Volunteers Needed to Help Beautify Brookhaven Town

Farmingville (WALK) - If you live in the town of Brookhaven and you want to help keep it beautiful, here's your chance.

This Saturday is the town’s 7th annual Great Brookhaven Clean Up, with crews of volunteers fanning out town-wide to pick up debris and trash along roadways, rivers, lakes and beaches. The event, which is co-sponsored by the Town of Brookhaven’s Department of Waste Management and Keep America Beautiful, Inc., is part of a national effort that has drawn over 2.3 million volunteers in more than 15,000 communities across America. Over 5,000 volunteers took part last year in Brookhaven.

Volunteers can register for the event through this Friday, May 16th at 12 noon. The town will provide supplies like pickers, gloves and trash bags, while volunteers provide the muscle. The supplies are available for pick up at the Department of Waste Management’s third floor office at Town Hall from 9 AM to 4:30 PM weekdays until May 16th. Evening pick-up is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14th from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
