Victim Dies but Arrest Made in Last Week's Club Shooting

Garden City (WALK) - The nightclub shooting in Garden City earlier this month has just become a murder case, and police now say they've caught the person responsible.

One of two men wounded at Mint lounge on March 16th has died, according to police. Word of the death of Emmanuel Barnett of Cambria Heights, Queens, came on Wednesday, the same day as the arrest of Tyshaun Phillips of the Bronx.

According to police, Phillips, 21, fired into a crowd of people during a fight inside Mint, which is in a stand-alone building located in the parking lot of Roosevelt Field.

Barnett, 21, was shot in the head and critically injured. The other victim, whose name has not been released by police, suffered a leg wound.

Phillips (pictured at left) is scheduled to be arraigned this morning at First District Court in Hempstead. Police say the case will be presented to a Grand Jury for possible further charges as well.
