Port Washington (WALK) - They're hoping for a little less excitement at North Hempstead Town Hall today.
The building, located in Port Washington, was evacuated Wednesday morning after a threat was phoned in. According to police, Michael Olson of Port Washington called the town's 311 non-emergency information line to complain that the town was moving trees from the property outside his home on Revere Road. During that phone call, Olson allegedly threatened to go to Town Hall (pictured at right) with a shotgun and shoot out the windows.
A town official ordered the building evacuated after the threat was reported. Daily town business came to a halt temporarily during that time.
Olson, 59, was taken into custody by police who went to his home shortly after that. The suspect is charged with making a terroristic threat and will be arraigned today at First District Court in Hempstead.
