Uniondale - (WALK) 20 students and four faculty members at an elementary school in Uniondale are recovering today after being pepper-sprayed during an incident Wednesday.
Nassau police say a fifth-grader at Northern Parkway Elementary School discharged the pepper spray near the school library, affecting 19 other students and four faculty members. They were taking to Nassau University Medical Center where they were treated for eye and throat irritations, said police. The school was briefly evacuated at about 11:30 a.m., but classes resumed Wednesday afternoon.
The 10-year-old was not identified by police, and no faculty members witnessed the incident. The case remains under investigation, said police.
