Freeport (WALK) - Police in Nassau say they've caught up with a homeless man who's been stalking girls in recent weeks.
Edwin Bonilla, 30, is suspected in at least 5 incidents in Freeport since October 1st. He was arrested on Tuesday morning after a police officer saw him following two young girls on Pine Street, near Dodd Middle School.
In the first incident, a girl reported being approached on South Main Street by a man who asked for her name and phone number, and then grabbed her hand, but she was able to get away. On October 3rd, another girl reported that a man put his arm around her at the corner of Pine Street and Guy Lombardo Avenue, but she was also able to get away safely. On October 7th, a girl told police that she was approached by a man who asked for her name and address, as she walked to school on East Merrick Road. On October 11th, a man reportedly ran after another girl on Juanita Avenue as she walked to school but stopped when he spotted a school security girl.
Bonilla has been charged with stalking and endangering the welfare of a child.
