Special Ed Tutor Accused of Stealing from Client's Homes

Hauppauge - (WALK) An in-home tutor for special need students is accused of helping herself to client's jewerly, valued at thousands of dollars, according to Suffolk police.

Bonni Blier, 36, of Innis Street, Ronkonkoma, was arrested Tuesday and accused of taking jewelry from the homes of several clients in the Hauppauge area.

Police say Blier took a ring from one household, and pawned it for $8,500.  Another client said Blier, over time, took six pairs of earrings valued at about $3,600 from their home.  She is also accused of lifting an entire jewelry box from another family. The value of that haul was undetermined.

Blier was arraigned Wednesday; her bail was set at $40,000 cash or $80,000 bond.

An investigation is continuing, and police ask anyone with information or questions to contact 4th Precinct detectives at 631-854-8446.
