Huntington - (WALK) Proper disposal of unwanted prescription medications can keep drugs out of the hands of people who are vulnerable to addiction, and keep drugs out of our community drinking water.
Soon Suffolk residents will be able to safely and easily dispose of potentially dangerous drugs each month at local senior centers throughout the county.
Suffolk County is teaming up with local towns to expand its "Operation Medicine Cabinet" program to permit residents to shed their meds at senior centers throughout the county on the first WEDNESDAY of each month (between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m), according to Legislator Steve Stern (D-Huntington).
The expansion of the county's "Operation Medicine Cabinet" program is scheduled to launch Thursday at the John J. Flanagan Activity Center at 423 Park Avenue in Huntington. The public is invited to bring unused and unwanted drugs for disposal during a press conference at 11:30.
