Ridge - (WALK) A Ridge woman succeeded in robbing a local bank Saturday, but failed to make a successful get away. She was nabbed in the parking lot, according to Suffolk police.
Louwanda Jackson, 46, of Williamsburg Court, is accused of robbing the Astoria Federal Savings branch at 1880 Middle Country Road in Ridge late Saturday morning.
Police say Jackson (photo) entered the bank shortly after 11:00 a.m., demanded cash and threatened a teller with violence. The teller turned over an unspecified amount of cash, and Jackson fled the bank on foot. SCPD Officer Kevin Gleason responded and apprehended her in the parking lot. Jackson is charged with 3rd degree robbery and scheduled to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
