Melville - (WALK) The search continues for the hit and run driver responsible for the death of elderly man, struck Friday evening in Melville.
Robert Hosking, 85, of Melville, was crossing Route 110 at West Lyon Street when he was struck shortly before 9:00 p.m. Friday. He was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where he was treated treated for internal injuries and bone fractures, but Hosking died Saturday morning, according to Suffolk police.
The suspect-vehicle continued traveling southbound on Route 110, and is described as green, with damage to the front end passenger side, windshield and side view mirror.
Anyone with information about about the fatal hit and run crash is urged to call the Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555, or to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential and information leading to a conviction earns a cash reward.
