North Amityville - (WALK) A 14-year-old girl is recovering from injuries sustained while attempting to protect her mother as the woman was being stabbed to death by her enraged ex-boyfriend, according to Suffolk police.
The the bodies of Virginia Vasquez, 32, and of Stephen Guillaume, 35, were found in the doorway of the home they shared on North Drive by police at about 9;30 p.m. Saturday. Guillaume had apparently taken his own life after killing Vasquez, said police.
Detectives determined Guillaume stabbed Vasquez after she said their relationship was over.
Investigators say Vasquez's 14 year old daughter was cut on the hand when she attempted to protect her mother. The girl was taken to a hospital for surgery to repair her wounds. Vasquez's 4-year-old son was also in the home at the time and was unharmed.
