Reward Offered in Search for Wannabe Robber

Yaphank (WALK) - If the man in the photo looks familiar to you, you might wind up being eligible for part of a $5,000 reward.

Suffolk Crime Stoppers is offering the reward to find the man, who allegedly tried to hold up a gas station in Central Islip last July. He allegedly went into the USA Gas on East Suffolk Avenue, pointed a knife at an employee and demanded cash. It happened at about 9:30 PM on July 18, 2013. The suspect wound up fleeing without taking anything.

A store security camera caught images of the suspect, including the one at left. Police say he was white, between 25 and 30 years old and 5'7" to 5'8" tall with a medium build.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (800) 220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
