Center Moriches (WALK) - The Suffolk SPCA is asking for the public's help to save the lives of two horses that were rescued this week.
SPCA Chief Roy Gross says the two horses were found on a property in Center Moriches after a complaint came in. The horses were emaciated, with no feed or hay left out for them, according to Gross.
The owner signed the horses over to the SPCA, which has placed them in foster care and is providing veterinary care. One of the horses is a throughbred. The owner's name has not been made public.
Gross is reaching out to the public for donations to help defer the cost of the horses' and temporary fostering, and they are also looking for a permanent home for them. Anyone who would like to make a donation or is interested in adopting should call the Suffolk SPCA at (631) 382-7722.
