Mineola (WALK) - Four months after a local businessman was shot outside his exclusive catering venue in Huntington, detectives have released photos of the SUV that they say the gunman was driving.
The photos, taken by a security camera at Oheka Castle, show a four-door Jeep Cherokee fleeing the area after the shooting. According to investigators, it is an older model and light in color.
Gary Melius, the politically-connected developer who restored Oheka Castle, was ambushed and shot in the forehead on February 24, 2014 around 12:30 PM as he climbed into his car in the parking area of the catering hall. Melius was wounded but has recovered.
There are reports of a second car involved in the shooting, but detectives haven't confirmed that. A black sedan reportedly may have been acting as a look-out.
There has been much speculation about why the wealthy businessman might have been targeted but police will say only that they have no clues or motive in the case and have made no arrests.
