Albany - (WALK) The owners of a Long Island based heating, ventilation and air condition company and the owner of a Queens-based company are accused of stealing $200,000 from New York State taxpayers by filing false invoices, according to state officials.
Charles Angelillo Jr., 40, and Carol Angelillo, 39, are the married owner and office manager of Eastport-based Classic Air Conditioning and Heating. Between 2010 and 2012 the Angelillos submitted bills to New York State for equipment they did not purchase, then forged invoices for double or triple the amount. Anthony Cuccinello, 46, the owner Masbeth-based AM/PM Supply Corporation, joined the scheme in 2011, according to Comptroller Thomas DiNappoli and Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Wednesday.
The Charles and Carol Angelillo are charged with 41 counts, including for grand larceny, falsifying business records and criminal possession of a forged instrument. Anthony Cuccinello is also accused of grand larceny, among eight felony counts. according to state officials. Each is reportedly free on their own recognizance.
