Dix Hills (WALK) - They're not calling it a hit and run, but police are trying to piece together how a man on a bike wound up injured, in the middle of a street in Suffolk.
Paul Rovelli of Deer Park was spotted by a passing motorist around 1:30 PM yesterday, lying semi-conscious on Carll's Straight Path in Dix Hills. There was a bicycle next to Rovelli, 69, who turned out to have a head injury.
The driver called for help and Rovelli was taken to Huntington Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition. Because of his injuries, he has been unable to tell police what happened.
Police believe Rovelli was riding the bike, and they say that he was wearing a helmet.
Anyway who may have seen what happened or who has information that could help investigators is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at (800) 220-TIPS.
