Manhunt Continues for Tanger Outlets Attacker

Riverhead (WALK) - Investigators have released a composite sketch of a man who attacked a woman at a local shopping mall this week.

The sketch was made with the help of the 67-year-old victim, who said the man jumped her as she walked out of a stall in a rest room at the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead last Tuesday, October 29th. According to the victim, whose name has not been released, the man was apparently hiding in another stall when she entered the rest room around 12 noon. The woman was pushed back into the stall by her attacker, who also put one arm around her neck and tried to force her to the floor.

Another woman walked into the rest room during the attack, heard the victim's screams and ran to a nearby store, where employees then dialed 911. The attacker fled on foot and police were unable to find him, despite the help of K9 search dogs.

The suspect is described as a young-looking black male, clean shaven, about 5'6" to 5'8" tall with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Riverhead Town Police Detective Division at (631) 727-4500.
