Man Rescued from Storm Drain in Suffolk

Medford (WALK) - Good thing he had two cell phones.

That's what people are saying about a man who had to be rescued from a storm drain in Medford after he fell in while trying to retrive a cell phone. Luckily, he was carrying a second cell phone that he used to call for help.

Police went to the scene on Route 112 near Granny Road after a 911 call came in from the victim around 6:30 PM Monday. According to authorities, the man dropped his cell phone down the storm drain and, as he reached down to try to get it back, he slipped into the drain's holding tank and became trapped. He was able to call for help with another cell phone that he had with him, police say.

Emergency Services officers responded and used a reciprocating saw and a ladder to get to the victim. He was not hurt.

The man's name hasn't been released by police.
