Brooklyn - (WALK) An elderly Howard Beach man is among five alleged crime family members being held on charges including robbery and racketeering. Prosecutors say Vincent Asaro is one of the gang who committed the 1978 $6 million robbery at Kennedy Airport, made famous in the film, "Goodfellas."
The other suspects, including Long Island resident Thomas DiFiore of Commack are reputed members of the Bonnano crime family.
All five suspects face charges including robbery and racketeering, including federal charges. Asaro, 79, was the only defendant named in the Lufthansa case. The robbery, known as the Lufthansa Heist, supposedly netted each robber a $750,000 share.
The suspects were arraigned in U.S. Court in Brooklyn Thursday and scheduled to return in February.
