Williston Park - (WALK) A 14 year old boy is recovering from stab-wounds inflicted by his despondent, suicidal brother who want to spare the victim a life of loneliness, said Nassau police.
Ruben A. Renderos (photo) 18, told his 14-year-old brother that he planned kill himself in their home on Willis Avenue Friday evening, and told the boy he would kill him, too, "so he would not suffer being lonely," according to police.
Renderos allegedly used a kitchen knife to stab his younger brother several times in the head, chest and back. Renderos fled the house when his brother called their parents and asked them to call police. The victim was transported to a local hospital, treated, and was still listed in critical condition Sunday.
Police searched for Renderos and located him on Jackson Avenue in Mineola, near Chaminade High School, at about 8:00 p.m. Friday.
Renderos is charged with second-degree attempted murder, assault and possession of a dangerous weapon. He was arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead and was reportedly released without bail, but records indicate the court issued a temporary order of protection against him.
