Roslyn (WALK) - For the 8th year in a row, a prestigious annual survey has ranked one Long Island hospital among the nation's best.
U.S. News and World Report has placed St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn near the top in 5 adult specialties. Results of its 25th annual survey, which were released yesterday, rank St. Francis at #9 in the nation in cardiology and cardiac surgery, as well as 16th nationally in gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, 30th in geriatrics, 33rd in orthopedics and 46th in neurology and neurosurgery.
St. Francis is also near the top of the overall rankings of hospitals in the New York metro area, coming in at #6 regionally. North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset placed 10th in the regional rankings, making it the only other Long Island hospital to make the top 10.
Other local hospitals that came in near the top of the regional rankings include Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola at #14, Huntington Hospital at #17, South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside at #19 and Stony Brook University Hospital at #22.
St. Francis is a 306-bed facility with 15,677 admissions in the most recent year reported.
