Garden City (WALK) - An elderly woman with medical issues chose the wrong person to trust to take care of her, police are saying.
The woman's health aide has been arrested for allegedly swiping over $81,000 worth of jewelry from the victim's home in Garden City. Police say the jewelry was taken last month, sometime between August 1st to the 29th, when Sara Cruz of Lindenhurst worked at the victim's home on St. Pauls Place. The woman is 73 years old.
Cruz, 25 (pictured at left), was indicted on grand larceny charges at her arraignment over the weekend at First District Court in Hempstead.
Investigators are looking into whether Cruz may have stolen from clients she had previously. Garden City village police ask that anyone who thinks they may have been victimized by Cruz contact them at (516) 465-4109.
