Uniondale - (WALK) Got a gun? Need money? The Nassau County police have a deal for you.
On Saturday, September 7, Nassau county will conduct a gun buy back event at Bishop R.W. Harris' Grace Church in Uniondale. Individuals who participate may remain anonymous, and will receive $100 for every operable rifle, $200 for operable handgun, and $400 for each operable assualt rifle, according to officials.
"The gun buy back program, using asset-forfeiture dollars, has taken nearly 3,000 guns off our streets before they fell into the wrong hands," said Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano.
Police advise anyone driving to the event to bring the guns unloaded, in a plastic or paper bag, and placed in the trunk of the vehicle.
NOT ACCEPTED are licensed guns, replicas, air pistols and BB guns.
The gun buy back event is Saturday, September 7, at Bishop R.W. Harris' Grace Cathedral Churdh, 944 Jerusalem Avenue, Uniondale, from 9:00 a.m. to 12-Noon.
