Wantagh - (WALK) A day at work can also be a day at the beach, at Jones Beach. The iconic Long Island location is now one of four state parks where visitors have access to free, public internet connection.
Free internet access is also available at Niagara Falls, East River and Saratoga Spa state parks through New York's "Oh Ranger! Wi-Fi" network. The four parks welcome an average total of more than 18 million visitors each year, according to the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
The service is made possible by a public-private partnership between the State of New York and Toyota Motor's Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid. Users must endure a 15-second ad from Toyota to obtain free Wi-Fi connections.
Oh Ranger! enables visitors to anonymously reach the internet from all of Jones Beach and its boardwalk area, but pornographic sites are blocked, according to authorities.
The Wi-Fi connection also permits visitors to stream and play music on devices; perhaps even to enjoy a Favorite Radio Station via the I "heart" Radio App.
