Syosset - (WALK) Authorities hope a Bayville man will remember this Father's Day weekend experience: He faces felony charges for driving drunk and crashing his car, --with his 11-year-old son in the vehicle.
Phillip Briguglio, 50, of Merrit Lane, crashed his 2008 Lexus into a utility pole near the intersection of Cold Spring Road and Southwoods Road in Syosset shortly after 9:30 p.m. Friday, according to Nassau police.
Responding officers say Briguglio had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, and a 11-year-old boy in his car. The boy, who complained of pain, was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and was released, said police.
Bruguglio is charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and with aggravated DWI with a child passenger (Leandra's Law, a felony).
Leandra's Law is named for Leandra Rosado, who was killed in a DWI crash in Manhattan. The law was passed in 2009.
