Babylon (WALK) - There was more to experience than just sand, sun and surf at Robert Moses State Park this weekend.
Beach goers were startled to see a small plane make an emergency landing on Saturday morning. The single engine Cessna landed safely on a two-lane road near parking field 4.
The pilot has been identified as Boaz Eidelberg of Smithtown. Eidelberg, 69, reportedly said he began having engine trouble and was afraid he wouldn't be able to make it back to Long Island MacArthur Airport, so he chose the least-busy road near the beach to make an emergency landing.
The pilot walked away without a scratch. No one at the beach was hurt.
