Disabled Train Forces Delays on LIRR

Jamaica, NY - (WALK) Long Island Rail Road officials say service is restored on all branches after a disabled train caused nearly system-wide delays of up to an hour for westbound commuters Thursday morning.

The "non-passenger" train was disabled west of Jamaica Station at about 8:00 a.m, according to LIRR officials, causing delays on all branches except Port Washington branch along Long Island's north shore.

Officials sya the disabled train was moved to a rail yard, and service was resumed later Thursday morning.  An investigation continues.
