Cops: Newspaper Delivery Woman Killed by Drunken Driver

Hampton Bays - (WALK) An Aquebogue man is in custody today, accused of driving drunk and causing a fatal collision, killing a woman as she delivered newspapers early Sunday in Hampton Bays, according to Southampton Town Police.

Donna Sartori, 56, of Middle Island, was standing near her parked car on Montauk Highway, west of Ponquogue Avenue, when a pickup truck traveling westbound struck a parked car, then struck her and her parked car shortly before 4:30 a.m., said police.

Sartori was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Joseph Perez, 31, was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Perez is charged with driving while intoxicated.
