Cops Find Garden of Grass at Brookville Nursery

Brookville - (WALK) Some of these plants are not like the others... A pair of East Northport men are accused of cultivating dozens of marijuana plants on the property of a commercial nursery in Brookville.

Old Brookville police were alerted to the situation by an employee at Old Brookville Nurseries on Northern Boulevard, who complained about "suspicious" people on the property Friday evening.

Old Brookville police, along with Nassau police and NCPD K9 officer "Thunder," sniffed-out suspect Bryan Zembreski, 36, of Vernon Place hiding in a wooded area next to four large bags, believed to be filled with marijuana. A second suspect, Anthony Donarummo, 40, of 5th Avenue, was also hiding, located by Thunder, and arrested shortly before 10:00 p.m. Friday.

Investigators later found a virtual pot plantation on the nursery property of approximately 150 plants, some 12- 15' tall. Nursery personnel were apparently unaware of the other cash crop on their property, according to Nassau police.

Zembreski and Donarummo are each charged with criminal possession of marijuana.
