Cops Blame Serious Crash on Drunk Driving

Centerport (WALK) - A Northport woman is facing drunk driving charges and her passenger is in the hospital after an overnight crash on Route 25A.

Police say Elizabeth Damilatis, 25, was headed west through Centerport just before 4 AM Thursday when her Volvo SUV went off the road and hit a utility pole. The only passenger in the car was critically hurt but police say his injuries are not life-threatening. Thomas Finch, 36, of Huntington was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital.

Damilatis (pictured at left) wasn't hurt but was arrested and charged with DWI. She is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow at First District Court in Central Islip.

A one-mile stretch of Route 25A was closed to traffic for about 7 hours, while the utility pole was repaired.
