Candidates Gear Up for Primary Day

Patchogue (WALK) - Tuesday is primary day across New York State, and if you're a registered member of a political party, you may be eligible to vote.

Several major political parties are holding primaries, and party members can cast ballots for local races being held by the party in which they are registered. Polls will be open from 6 AM to 9 PM.

The biggest race in Nassau County is for the Democratic nomination for county executive, with former County Executive Tom Suozzi taking on Adam Haber. Meanwhile in Suffolk, District Attorney Tom Spota is being challenged for the Republican nomination by Raymond Perini.

To see all the races being contested, or to find out if you're eligible to vote and where your polling place is located, contact your county Board of Elections. In Suffolk, it's (631) 852-4500 or click here. In Nassau, call (516) 571-VOTE (8683) or click here.
