Patchogue - (WALK) Our recent run of cold, stormy weather caused many of us to change plans and cancel important appointments. Among the cancellations were dozens of blood drives.
According to Long Island Blood services, the cancelled blood drives resulted in the loss of about 1,200 pints of blood. Officials are working to help make up for the loss by making it even easier and more convenient for neighbors to donate blood.
If you are eligible and able to donate blood, Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in East Patchogue is the host site for a day-long blood drive today from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The hospital is located at 101 Hospital Road, and further details can be obtained by calling (631) 654-7100.
If you can't make it to Brookhaven Hospital today, there are about 3 dozen blood drives scheduled this week in communities around Long Island. To find one near you, call (800) 933-BLOOD or click here.
