Riverhead - (WALK) A Patchogue man will soon have an upstate address, after being sentenced to serve up to 21 years in prison for ransacking, robbing and setting fire to the home of a New York State Trooper who was serving with a National Guard unit in Africa.
Harry Fleischmann Jr., 33, attacked the home of Trooper Eric Carver on Lake Drive, East Patchogue, on December 27, 2012. Carver was serving in Africa with his Air National Guard unit at the time.
Fleischman stole Carver's off-duty handgun, some ammunition, a generator, and Carver's Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck. He used gasoline from a backyard shed to accelerate the house fire, according to Suffolk District Attorney Thomas Spota.
Fleischman was tracked down and arrested in January 2013.
