Glen Cove (WALK) - An alleged internet predator has a court date in Nassau County today.
A Bayville man was arrested yesterday for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl in Glen Cove. Police say Tereso De Jesus Ruiz-Hernandez, 25, met his victim on Facebook in July and then arranged several meetings, when the two engaged in sexual activity in his Nissan sedan.
Ruiz-Hernandez is being arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead today. He is charged with rape and committing a criminal sexual act.
Details are sketchy so far but police say the investigation began when Glen Cove police were contacted earlier this month. They launched a joint probe with the Nassau police Special Victims Squad, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Detectives ask that anyone who might know of other victims please contact police.
