Alleged Drunk Driver Rescued from His Wrecked Car

Brentwood (WALK) - He had to go to the hospital, but that may be the least of his problems.

A driver who was rescued from his wrecked car on the Long Island Expressway early Friday has become the second person in two days to be arrested on DWI charges in Suffolk. According to police, John Boisseau of Sound Beach was headed east near exit 55 in Brentwood around 2 AM when his SUV veered off the road and slammed into a tree. He was ejected from the Chevrolet Trailblazer and landed underneath it.

Another driver saw the crash and stopped to help. Alex Mitchell of Queens helped Boisseau out of the wreckage and got him to safety, just before the vehicle burst into flames.

Police who arrived at the scene arrested Boisseau, 37, on drunk driving charges. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. Mitchell was not hurt.

Meanwhile in Hampton Bays, police say one drunk driver caught up with them, instead of the other way around.

Southampton town police report that a police cruiser was almost hit head-on by a car that drifted over the double yellow lines on Montauk Highway, just after midnight on Thursday morning. Dennis Doyle of South Weymouth, Massachusetts was then stopped by police, who arrested him at the scene. No one was hurt.

Doyle, 45, is scheduled to be arraigned this morning.
