Yaphank - (WALK) The suspect in the July stabbing death of a Long Island mother of two is in custody on the Caribbean island of Jamaica.
Cleon Brown, 59, is accused of killing Elizabeth Hernandez, 33. Hernandez, a mother of two was found dead in her basement apartment in Shirley on July 24, according to Suffolk police.
Hernandez reportedly had an order of protection against Brown, an ex-boyfriend. Hernandez was the mother of a seven year old daugher and of a four year son, according to published accounts.
Brown skipped town before a scheduled indictment in October 2013. He was captured by police in Kingston, Jamaica, and scheduled to appear in court Friday. Authorities in Suffolk are pursuing extradition for his return to Long Island.
