Stony Brook Village - (WALK) Sunday is the 20th anniversary of the annual Walk for Beauty in a Beautiful Place, an event to raise awareness about breast cancer and to support local research. The event is held in beautiful, and historic, Stony Brook Village.
Since its inception, the Walk for Beauty has raised more than $1 million for breast cancer research at Stony Brook University. There are no administrative fees, all committee members are volunteers, and all event proceeds go to research and to patient support, according to organizers.
The walk is a 4/K or 6/K course, with 6/K participants experiencing the autumn beauty of Avalon Park and Preserve.
This year's honorees are Janet Taormina, of Patchogue, a breast cancer survivor; Leah S. Dunaief, editor and publisher of Times Beacon Record Newspaper; and we at WALK are proud to include our General Manager, Jim Condron.
CHECK-IN IS AT 8:30, THE ACTION BEGINS AT 9:30 AT THE STONY BROOK POST OFFICE. The Walk for Beauty in A Beautiful Place is co-presented by Stony Brook University and The Ward Melville Heritage Organization.
